Her uncle, Jose Reyes Avendaņo, was killed along with 2 others in a shootout with Mexican Federal Police on Miguel Hidalgo Blvd. early Saturday. PFP officials state that the officers were returning fire in self-defense after being fired upon, but survivor Hernan Serrato says the PFP opened fire first after the truck he was traveling in and another tried to pass their convoy on a bridge. An investigation is underway.
